The League received this message from the Chief Operating Officer of the IFA on Friday 16th February
As you will no doubt be aware the Irish FA will host a senior men’s friendly international (Northern Ireland v South Korea) at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park on Saturday 24 March, kick off 2.00pm.
In accordance with the Football Regulation 36 (d) – ‘No match shall be played commencing 5 hours prior to the kick off of an ‘A’ International, where the same are being played in Northern Ireland.’
However the Football Committee, having received representations from some leagues which have been affected by postponements due to the inclement weather, have agreed that whilst no club can be compelled to play on the afternoon of the 24th, where two clubs agree to play this will be permitted to allow clubs and leagues to catch up with fixtures. This dispensation is limited to Intermediate and Junior football only.
I trust you will take note of the above
The League will shortly be contacting all Clubs as we did with regard to St Patrick's Day and I would as everyone to give serious consideration before deciding to play or not on the 24th March
