The Mid Ulster Football League entertained their friends and colleagues from the Leinster Football Association for the annual challenge matches which this year was held at Valley Rangers Bignian Park complex on Saturday last and against all expectations, the Mid Ulster League were victorious in both matches.
The Intermediate level Ivan Marshall Cup was won by the hosts, Valley Rangers FC who, came from behind 3 times to win an exciting match by 4-3 against a very strong Bluebell Utd FC, with the winner scored approximately 15 minutes from the end.
In the other fixture at Junior level, the John Bagster Cup, the Mid Ulster League were represented by Hill Street FC, who raced into a 3-0 half time lead against VEC FC only to be pegged back to 3-2 after the visitors had by far the better of the second half.
The Mid Ulster League would like to thank Valley Rangers FC for their hospitality in staging the games and also to our parent Association for their very welcome presence on the day. Thanks also to the Mid Ulster Referees’ Association match Officials who gave their services free of charge and finally to the Kilmorey Arms Hotel who provided the perfect setting for the post-match presentation ceremonies.
